Geeze, what a day!
We’re fresh off the last long weekend of the summer, school starts today and fire has tragically torn through the main building of the St Jacobs Market. Wow.
I had a great long weekend up in Kincardine. Campfires, golf, beach time and a couple beers. It was all good and went by too fast.
Nearly 100-thousand students across the region went back to class today. I remember those days well, and I’m glad they’re over for me. My daughter heads to school for the first time this year. She begins in a couple weeks. That’ll be a tough day for mom and me.
And, as if that wasn’t enough, we all woke up to the horrible news of the St Jacobs Market fire yesterday. I love that market and shop there frequently. It is a true local gem and relies on and supports the hard work of many vendors and their employees. I am still in shock over the loss, as are many people. I have faith that it will be rebuilt even better than before. But until then, please make an effort to support the many great local growers and retailers here in Waterloo Region.
