As Netflix continues to increase in popularity – accumulate more wealth – they are going after companies, possibly people, who are using a VPN. Although, most security experts say ‘they probably won’t target users and will sue the companies providing the VPN services.’
A VPN, allows you to view content that would be blocked in your country.
Some say, the fear is that Netflix – and other streaming services – could lose a chunk of money much like the music industry did in the late 90’s and early 2000’s; MP3 bootlegging.
Here’s what David Fullagar, Netflix’s vice president of content , had to say. “This technology continues to evolve and we are evolving with it,” said Fullagar. “That means in coming weeks, those using proxies and unblockers will only be able to access the service in the country where they currently are. We are confident this change won’t impact members not using proxies.”
It will be interesting to see what happens and if someone will find a way around this.
