We’ve all seen those Pinterest Instructions, or the 30 second Recipe, or DIY videos that get sent around on Facebook.
And you guys know, I LOVE a good DIY so when I came across this video, On March Break, just weeks before Easter, I had to try it.
My friend had shared this video to her wall of ‘Mug Dipping’
It seems so simple, so easy.
All you need are a few plain white mugs, or tea cups, colourful nail polish, a plastic containers, and acrylic seal spray.
So I took to the dollar store, grabbed some mugs, and some spring/easter coloured nail polish. I then headed to Michaels (The BEST PLACE EVER) to grab the sealer.
As to the ‘simple’ instructions, I filled the plastic container, with warm water, and began to drizzle in some nail polish colours. The clip had shown a brief mixing of colours by using a tooth pick. I thought great, I’m gonna use a few different colours. WRONG, as soon as I stuck in the stick, the nail polish attacked it!
First cup, a huge fail! (I also tried to wash it really fast, hoping to reuse it, sadly, it is now stained a bunch of colours 🙁 )
On to cup #2. Also quite the fail.
On to cup #3 and #4 These didn’t turn out as bad, but still the polish was left gloppy, and now as nice as I had hoped.
My conclusion, it is a fun craft, you should most likely buy better then dollar store nail polish. BRIGHT BRIGHT colours, and wear gloves!! And when they say work fast, WORK FAST!

Oh and one last thing, I did this in the boardroom of the Beat studios, and received an email from staff wondering where the horrid fumes were coming from… whoops…
This isn’t the original video I watched, but this the the exact same instructions
