I have to admit, I wasn’t a big reader as a kid…or a teen…or even now. You’re not likely to find me in a quiet place with a long novel in my hand.
Having said that, one of the (many) things I enjoy about being a dad. is reading kids to my kids before bed every night. I remember enjoying when my parents read to me when I was young and even though I’ve never been a ‘bookworm’, I’d love if my kids developed a passion for reading.
My two eldest kids recently turned 7 and 5, and we’ve now move from short picture books to novels at bedtime. We started with the classic series ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’. We’re four chapters in to ‘The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe’ and the kids (and I) are loving it!
After we’re done all seven Naria books, we’ll move on to another classic novel or series. Any suggestions?
