By the middle of the week, I’m feeling a little tired, and my brain and my hands sometimes have trouble communicating. Yesterday, was one of those days.
I got home from work with every intention of taking a well deserved afternoon nap. But first, I did a quick little clean up around the house, put some groceries away and tidied a few things up. Then I saw that my girlfriend left out some nail polish that she’d put on the night before.
BRIGHT PINK NAIL POLISH.
What happened next, all happened in slow motion.
On my way upstairs I picked up the towel, nail polish remover and bottle of nail polish that was siting on the dining room table and turned to walk upstairs.
That’s when it happened.
The nail polish fell from my hands. It shattered and spilled all over the brand new hardwood floor. The hardwood floor my girlfriend loves and spent lots of money on. Did I mention this is BRIGHT PINK NAIL POLISH and my girlfriend really loves this floor?
I LOST MY MIND. THERE WAS YELLING. LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS OF YELLING.
That picture of the nail polish doesn’t do justice to how much of a mess I made. It went 14 feet across the floor. All over the chair legs, seats, my legs and feet. There’s a hell of a lot of polish in that little bottle. It was a disaster – IN PINK.
First, I called my dad because he knows how to clean anything from anything. He calmed me down and we got my game plan together.
Next, I made the dreaded call to my girlfriend.
Here’s how it went down:
Carlos: Hi, there was an accident.
Michelle: What? Are you ok?
Carlos: There was an accident at the house. I’m fine.
Michelle: Oh no, what happened, you’re ok?
Carlos: Yes, I’m ok, but your floor is not.
Michelle: Uhhhm Ok
Carlos: I dropped your nail polish, the bright pink one, I was trying to clean up.
The conversation went on and my girlfriend was surprisingly calm. Notice, how I started off that conversation. She was more concerned about ME than the floor! Win.
Long story short. She got home from work and we both cleaned up the floor. There are still pink remnants that I’ll be working on during my vacation.
