I’ve known this woman I work with for a few years. We were hired around the same time and we even even worked in the same department for a few years. We’re friendly and speak at work pretty regularly and it seems like she doesn’t have too may friends outside work. We’d been talking off and on about concerts and who we’d love to see play live. I mentioned I loved Maroon 5 and so did she. Yesterday I got an email saying she’d bought us two tickets to go to the show – in Montreal in February!!!! (The show is on a Saturday night) The thing is, we barely know each other. She’s very excited and I should have said something right away, but I was so stunned that I replied something about working out the details more.
She’s very nice, I genuinely like her, and I think she is trying really hard to be friends, but I just don’t think we’re close enough friends to do this. I don’t want to screw up our work environment since she works pretty close by and visits with me a couple times a month to catch up. What do I do?
