I love my friend “J” but ONLY as a friend. We’ve known each other since high school, and stayed close after we went off to university, and even stayed in touch when he moved to BC for work. He’s just moved back to Waterloo and it seems he wants to be more than friends. He’s started making advances that make me very uncomfortable. He’s tried holding my hand and putting his arm around me which he’s never done before. It’s come out of nowhere.
We see each other often – our circle of friends are very close – and I don’t want to ruin our friendship, but the way he acts is making me very uncomfortable. I’ve actually started ignoring him because of this. How do I politely yet firmly tell him to stop it? Just A Friend in Waterloo
