Legendary Canadian singer, songwriter, author and poet Leonard Cohen has died at the age of 82. He was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, American Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and was also a companion of the Order of Canada.
You may not recall HIS voice specifically, because the music he’s written / performed have gone on to become bigger hits by other artists.
You may recognize this cover of ‘Hallelujah’ from Shrek.
Here’s the original version, by Leonard Cohen.
The announcement was made on Leonard’s official facebook page yesterday.
And since then, celebrities (and Prime Ministers!) have been mourning the icon on social media.
RIP Leonard Cohen. Thank you for you dedication to music, & writing one of my favorite songs to sing "Hallelujah". https://t.co/JsTjNmmarC— Jennifer Hudson (@IAMJHUD) November 11, 2016

He said all men will be sailors then
Until the sea shall free them
