So maybe you noticed I was away from the Beat Breakfast for a few days last week. What happened? My eye happened. (That picture isn’t even the worst of it. I’ll spare sharing any more of them.)
Anywho, back to the what happened. I rubbed my eye and it got infected – BADLY infected – and I got cellulitis which can be quite serious.
I spent a good amount of time in and out of the ER at the St.Mary’s General Hospital getting an IV and a few doses of antibiotics, having my blood tested for a possible blood infection, a tetanus shot, and generally keeping an “eye” on the swelling of my eye and face. See what I did there? Finally after four days the swelling is going down and I’m looking and feeling normal again.
I have to say a big thank you to the nurses, nurse practitioners and doctor’s at St. Mary’s and at the CCAC (where I got my additional doses of antibiotics) for the great care I got. I can’t say it enough. They were kind, attentive, caring and out up with me and my return visits, so thanks to Allison, Louisa, Dr.Dave and Sian (just to name a few) for being so great.
While I was waiting in the ER, I wrote a little song I called – you guessed it – cellulitis – to the tune of Peaches and Herb’s Reunited. I hope you like it …
