My in-law looks after our son when my husband and I are at work. He loves them and they really are wonderful grandparents. They recently had one of their car’s in for service and took our son with them grocery shopping but forgot to move the car seat from my father-in-law’s car to my mother in law’s car so my mother-in-law simply held him.
My husband is angry, but I’m furious. He’s more forgiving, arguing child seatbelts and car seats weren’t mandatory when he was growing up so they forget how important it is. The other problem is, this isn’t the first time this issue has come up.
I don’t want them to look after our son anymore, and put his safety at risk but my husband will not agree to that. He argues how hurt they will be, about finding daycare and the cost of that, and would rather just have another stern talk with them. We’ve already done that and look what happened.
I’m not willing to back down, but obviously that’s going to cause lots of drama, so I’m looking for some advice about what to do. Car seat chaos in KItchener
