Today is National Pet Day.
This is not statistically proven, I am just making an assumption, but I would guess the majority of people/households own a pet, whether it be a dog, cat, fish, hamster. Therefore those that don’t would be in the minority (again, just assuming). So I would be in the minority if these facts were correct.
We have one child with another one on the way very soon…we get asked often enough “are you guys going to get a dog?” I don’t know why the dog seems to win over the cat, but that’s what we get asked. Neither my husband nor I would like a pet, not now, maybe not ever. We both like animals have no problem with them in any way, but have no desire to currently be pet owners. Sometimes I feel like when we say that, people look at us like ‘oh you’re not dog people I see’ or ‘oh you’re those types of people’
I mean does that make us bad because we don’t want a pet, we will soon be a family of two with both working parents and not only want to take on extra responsibility, but don’t think it would be fair to the pet who wouldn’t receive a lot of our attention.
