A sneak peek at the new documentary “Whitney. ‘Can I Be Me’”, about Whitney Houston is an emotional and devastating journey through her life and career.
The new trailer released Tuesday shows behind-the-scenes footage of Whitney performing, as well as snippets of interviews with the people who knew her best.
“She died from a broken heart,” says one voice in the trailer.
The film, directed by BAFTA winner Nick Broomfield, is said to “offer a raw and uncensored look at Houston, exploring the impact her life and death had on the people around her and the world of music.”
The film received critical praise, with Variety saying: “The movie has a haunting effect. It makes you want to reach right into the screen and tell Whitney Houston to draw herself back from the abyss, to find the thing she gave to so many others: the greatest love of all.”
“Whitney. ‘Can I Be Me’” premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in April, followed by its Canadian premiere at Hot Docs the same month. The film will stream on CraveTV on July 22 and August 26 at 9 p.m..
