Friday, June 16, 2017 marked a very special day at The Museum for all taco lovers in the Waterloo Region – it was the highly-anticipated and ever so delicious TACOFEST event in support of Meals On Wheels!
This sold-out event featured 16 local restaurants competing for the coveted “Golden Taco” trophy, along with 16 local craft breweries competing for the “Best Brew” award.
With so many different tacos and brews to try, it was hard to even know where to begin – but once we had a bite of our very first taco … the rest was history!
Every restaurant competing at the event put their own twist on the traditional taco that we all know and love and the creations were nothing short of beautiful. We tried everything from pulled pork tacos, fish tacos, chicken tacos to Oktoberfest inspired tacos and every single one of them was absolutely delicious!
With so many mouthwatering options, choosing a favourite meat taco, vegetarian taco and brew seemed increasingly impossible! However, at the end of the night a choice needed to be made and our votes were cast.
Walking away with both the People’s Choice Award and the “Golden Taco” trophy, The Bruce Craft House swept the crowd and their taste-buds away with their now award-winning Ethiopian chicken taco!
TWB Co-Operative took home the “Best Brew” award for their Porter brew!
Borealis Grille & Bar – Kitchener was the “Vegetarian Victor”!
Congratulations to not only the winners of Tacofest, but to all 16 of the local restaurants and breweries that participated in this unforgettable, annual event. For more information, please visit: http://tacofest.ca/
