Jay Z dropped his new album 4:44 at midnight and it’s amazing. It’s only available on Tidal right now so I just completely lied to you because I actually haven’t heard it yet because who pays for Tidal?
I can only assume it’s amazing, because it appears to be a direct response to Beyonce’s Lemonade.
Multiple times throughout Jay-Z’s album, he references sleeping with other women, apoligizing, and he even addresses the elevator fight with Solange.
Some lyrics from the song 4:44 are pretty telling:
“I apologize to all the woman whom I/ Toyed with you emotions because I was emotionless/ I apologize ‘cus at your best you are love/ And because I fall short of what I say I’m all about/ Your eyes leave with the soul that your body once housed/ And you stare blankly into space/ Thinking about all the time you wasted in on all the basic s**t so/ I apologize.
“And if my children knew, I don’t even know what I would do/ If they ain’t look at me the same/ I would prolly die with all the shame/ ‘You did what with who?’/ What good is a ménage à trois when you have a soulmate? ‘You risked that for Blue?
So yeah. I guess that’s what you do if you’re famous and a cheating goofball who happens to make music… apology albums are so hot right meow.
