A few days ago my friend and I, lets call her “Teresa” were wary of our other friend, let’s call her “Mary”, she seemed off and we wanted to know what was going on.
We then talked amongst ourselves and my friend mentioned how Mary told her that she was her favourite friend amongst the four of us friends. I was surprised at this. Mary had told me that I was her favourite friend too.
Things began unraveling quickly and we both figured out that she had told each of us and our fourth friend how we were her favourite, telling also how we were the prettiest, smartest and how the other friends were ugly. She also told each of us that the other friends hated us secretly, trying to pin us against eachother. We were shocked. However when we confronted her about it, she didn’t deny anything! She said everything was okay and that she wasn’t in the wrong.
We decided to stop being friends with her because of this but our fourth friend, “Kay” said she would rather go with Mary, saying she “missed the fun times”.
Should we restart our friendship with Mary to stay friends with Kay, or let both friendships die off?
