A psycotherapist has named the two most toxic thoughts you can have in a day and my mind is blown. I think these thoughts ALL. THE. TIME.
New York psycotherapist Katherine Schafler says the two most toxic thoughts ARE:
“I didn’t get enough sleep”
“I don’t have enough time”
Did you instantly think “Wow these are like the two most common phrases in my life!”, because I sure did when I read this.
The article Katherine goes on to write when you think those thoughts, your mind is already set in scarcity. You set your whole day up with the mindset that you don’t have enough, and your thought pattern spirals from there.
The fix to these thoughts? Switch your brain to focus on GRATITUDE.
“I got enough sleep”
“I have enough time”
From there, your thoughts will come from a place of ‘enough’, and just like thinking in scarcity, your brain will spiral towards positive thoughts when you think like this.
The only exception I will make to this rule is chocolate. There is NEVER enough of that. 😉
