I am a mother to a 4 year old girl and a little boy who just turned one in September. My parents live in Kitchener and my husband’s family are in BC, so we see a lot of my mom and dad, and they help take care of the kids for us since I have gone back to work.
My mom has become a problem. I have 3 sisters and my mom has stated in the past how much she wanted a boy and how much she wanted a grandson. Now she is favoring my newborn son over my daughter and it’s become noticeable to not only my husband, but to friends, other parents and a few teachers at school. She dotes on him and totally ignores my daughter. My dad is either clueless or refuses to see it.
My husband and I are quite upset and he wants to confront her and find other daycare solutions. I want my parents in my children’s lives, but not like this. It’s even trickier now since we rely on them to pick up the kids after school and watch them until we get home from work. What’s the best way to handle this? Not playing favorites in Cambridge
