CALLING CATHERINE IN INDY ABOUT THE REALLY BIG FOOTBALLING MATCH XTRA LARGE 46

Posted 2/3/2012 12:00:00 PM
Dave and I called Catherine at the Staybridge Suites in Indianapolis, site of the "Really Big Footballing Match: Xtra Large 46" to get the pulse of the city. We're not sure if we did that. It is Indianapolis after all, but Catherine was awesome!  Have a listen.

Who says only Americans get great Really Big Footballing Match commercials?  (Here's why we won't get the U.S. ads) This one is going to air here and not in the states.  Filmmakers told two rec hockey teams in Port Credit that they were filming a hockey documentary, but it was actually Budweiser who surprised the guys by filling the arena with cheering fans, cheerleaders and sportscasters, giving the feel of a pro game.  It's awesome ...

The Beat's sister station in Calgary, QR77 has a bunch of the leaked Really Big Footballing Match commercials that will only be ...

GROUNDHOG DAY!!! OH YEAH AND NATIONAL TATER TOT DAY!!!

Posted 2/2/2012 4:00:00 PM
It's Groundhog Day and Wiarton Willie and other groundhogs will be making their prognostications.  I'm hoping for good news.  You know, that the groundhogs won't see their shadows and winter will end early.

Right?

Then again, will it matter?  We haven't even had winter.

Shoubanecadie Sam was up first. He DID NOT see his shadow so spring will arrive early!!!

Then it was America's famous Punxsutawny Phil.  He has his own webcam ya know. He predicted another 6 weeks of winter.  Jerk.

Then it was Wiarton Wil.i.am.  He did his thing at 8:07 - how precise!  He also DID NOT see his shadow again, early spring!

We got the definitive answer when our very own Dave "Hasselhog" Jutzi headed outside at 8:30. He also predictd an early spring and you can hear it here on The Beat Breakfast Audio Page.

I celebrate each ...

THE BULLDOG IN A BOX & BOSTON PIZZA "FUN-RAISER"

Posted 2/1/2012 11:19:00 AM

I want a dog.

Someday.

Right now it's just me in my little loft and I work so much I'd never be home to properly take care of him or her.  That ,and I can't quite decide what breed I want. There's the Portuguese Water Dog, Boston Terrier and French Bulldog, but this video may have tipped the scales in favor of the English Bulldog.  I love this guy! ...

QUICK STUFF

David Letterman - one of my idols - celebrates 30 years in late-night tonight.

First it was Matthew Broderick and his Ferris Bueller inspired Super Bowl Commercial for Honda and now Jerry Seinfeld has done the same.  I think it's waaaay funnier than the Bueller spot.  That is until the end when Leno shows up.

Adele will be performing at the Grammy's next Sunday.  It'll be her first live performance since vocal surgery last year.

Tonight I'll be ...

A TROMBONE DUET TO CELEBRATE SOPHIE'S 1ST ANNIVERSARY ON THE BEAT BREAKFAST

Posted 1/31/2012 12:25:00 PM

Today is a very exciting day here at The Beat.  First of all, we're celebrating our 8th birthday.  Yup, 8 years.  Time flies doesn't it?  I've been at the Beat for a little under two years, but I remember when the Beat went to air January 31st, 2004.  I've been listening ever since and now I'm proud to be part of the on-air team.  Thank you so much for listening!  There would be no reason for us to do what we do without you.

And one year ago today, Sophie officially joined The Beat Breakfast with Dave and I! I know, seems like longer doesn't it? To celebrate and wish her a happy 1st anniversary, I jetted off again and chatted with Matthew McConaughey about his secret relationship with Sophie, (you can have a listen here on The Beat Breakfast audio page).

Dave and I also "performed" (I use ...

REVIEWING YOUR FINANCES WITH YNCU

Posted 1/30/2012 12:00:00 PM

YNCU has helped me quite a bit over the last year.  Thanks to Sharon at the Weber and Fergus location of Your Neighborhood Credit Union in Kitchener, I sat down and did a budget - which was simple and painless - and I can now see where my money is going.  I also easily renewed my mortgage at a great rate.  I'm glad I took care of that when I did, because I ran into some unforeseen costs late last year that I needed help with ASAP. I was wondering to go with a loan or line of credit so Sharon helped me out with that too.  Oh, and if you haven't reviewed your line of credit recently, you should.

It's a new year and the time is right to look over your finances. Getting them on track is important for families no matter how big or small.  Mark Carney; ...
