MLB!

Monday, March 31, 2008

It's a rainy, grey Monday...

...but it's good to be back at work.  We had some nice time with friends and family this weekend and got in a lot of relaxation time.  And after last week - it was needed.

I'm back at the Chiropractor today.  It's really done me a world of good.  I really can't believe it.

MLB!

It's been a tough winter.  Long, cold and tons of snow.  But we are starting to see signs that summer is not far off.  The rain for one - and the start of the Major League Baseball season!

Technically, the season began in Japan last week but today the Jays and Yankees go toe-to-toe at Yankee Stadium.  I'm hoping the Jays can take a couple games from the Yanks in the series and get off to a good start - but as I said a couple days ago - I have my doubts about this year's Jays.

This is a particularily significant game for Yankee faithful.  it is the last home opener to be played at Yankee Stadium.

The stadium was built in 1923.  Here's an interesting factoid pulled from Wikipedia...

Upon its opening, Yankee Stadium soon came to be known as "The House that Ruth Built", a play on the nursery rhyme "The House that Jack Built", and in reference to the Yankees' star player, Babe Ruth. Ruth's power as a drawing card had enabled the Yankees to build their own stadium in the Bronx after their rivals across the Harlem River, the New York Giants, were threatening to evict them."

As much as I hate dislike the Yankees, you've gotta appreciate the team's history and past success.

Go Jays!  Go Mets!

Have a great day!
