Fabolous & One Republic/Ruben/Will.I.Am

Friday, February 29, 2008

Happy leap day (Feb 29th) and welcome to the weekend!!

FABOLOUS & ONE REPUBLIC GO BACK TO SCHOOL

It seem like a weird combo, but Fabolous and One Republic will be touring U.S. college campuses.  How would you like that to end the school year?  Pretty sweet!  The tour begins April 10th at Miami's Florida International University and ends on May 3rd in Albany, New York.

RUBEN STUDDARD BACK ON 'AMERICAN IDOL'

(From Billboard.com)
Ruben Studdard will perform the "farewell song" used to play off the losing contestants when they depart the top 12.
This year, the song will be a cover of Kenny Loggins' "Celebrate Me Home," in a new version produced by Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam. "It's very soulful, very heartfelt," Lewis says. "Ruben is singing his pants off."

It's a significant gig for Studdard, who was dropped by J Records at the end of 2007. He is, however, still managed by the show's 19 Entertainment and under contract to subsidiary 19 Recordings, a link that paved the way for him to return to the show as the song's performer.

For his part, Studdard is about to return to the studio to record an album for 19. "I need to get into the studio, go there and kind of trip out for a while," he says.

WILL.I.AM POSTS ANOTHER SONG ENDORSING BARACK OBAMA ONLINE.

Yahoo.ca reports that the Black Eyed Peas frontman released another star-studded music video in tribute to the presidential campaign of the Democratic senator - this one is titled "We Are the Ones."

Backed by a simple vocal refrain of "O-BA-MA! O-BA-MA!," the video also shows stars such as Jessica Alba, Ryan Phillippe, Kerry Washington, George Lopez and others explain why they support Obama while others such as Macy Gray croon the candidates' last name to the will.i.am-penned melody.

The song is a followup to his inspirational video "Yes, We Can."  That video garnered more than five million hits on YouTube.com alone. That song features Obama's voice from a New Hampshire concession speech set to Will.A.Mm's music and melody, plus vocalizations of the speech from the likes of Scarlet Johansson, John Legend, Kate Walsh, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Herbie Hancock and other celebrity supporters. The chorus is one of Obama's campaign slogans: "Yes, We Can."

That's all for now.  Enjoy the weekend!!  =)
